Hello lovelies, and happy nearly-the-end-of-the-month to you.
King’s Place, Monday 17th Feb, 6 for 6.30pm start.
February’s meetup is all about becoming a better interviewer, and will be covering basic technique to improve your podcast interviews. To ensure we can all hear what’s going on, we’re changing venues and fiddling with the format a bit - we’ll be in King’s Cross, and we’re splitting the event into two parts: The learning bit, and the socialising bit. Come along for both, or either.
Full details are here, as always it’s free, but please register your interest so we can keep an eye on numbers.
Common Podcasting Mistake 2:
Failing to batch content. That is, taking the time to get 4 or 5 episodes completed before releasing the first one, so you’ve got a few episodes finished and queued up and ready for release ahead of time.
Failure to do this means you’re probably going to be editing each episode at the last minute.
So…?
If you’re editing an episode at the last minute, you’re probably not going to have the time to do it as well as you’d like, or to the standard that it deserves. Getting a few episodes ahead of yourself means you have more time to spend on getting it right, making it sound great and, importantly, keeping your stress levels manageable.
In the worst case scenario, you might even miss dealines, messing up your show’s established publishing time, meaning your listeners will be expecting a new episode on a certain day and it won’t be there.
This isn’t as much of a problem as it would be for video content on YouTube, where inconsistent publishing schedules mean your channel gets punished by the algorithm gods, but it’s still not best practise.
Taking the time to ensure you’ve got a few episodes ready to go before releasing the first one means the whole process is less fraught, more relaxed, and gives you time to do other things, like spend with friends and/or family, if that’s your idea of fun.
That’s all for now.
Another Common Podcasting Mistake will be coming your way next week. Until then, please RSVP to the meetup, drink plenty of water, and generally be gentle with yourself.
KISSES!
